Kentucky-based photographer Marge Royston has been telling stories through a lens since 1982. Gifted a 35mm camera by her family during her freshman year of high school, she was immediately hooked. That early spark set her course—college became not simply an option, but a way to fully immerse herself in photography and art. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Art in Photography from Shepherd University in West Virginia and has since built a career thoughtfully balancing personal creative work with dynamic commercial projects, always grateful to make a living doing what she loves.

Drawing on her experience as both a parent and an educator, Marge brings a collaborative, grounded approach to every shoot. She has created high-quality imagery for advertising, retail, catalog, lifestyle, corporate, and editorial clients, elevating visual storytelling through leadership, clear communication, and a strong attention to detail. Known for her calm presence and optimistic eye, she seeks out authentic moments and is always searching for the best light.

After college, Marge began shooting freelance assignments before joining JCPenney’s corporate headquarters in Texas, where she served as studio manager and later photographed executive portraits, fashion, and product imagery for in-store signage and pre-print. After nearly six years in corporate America, she co-founded Studio Venus, a 6,500-square-foot studio that supported multiple daily shoots and a thriving creative team.

As her daughter grew older, Marge returned to the East Coast to be closer to family, where she found the ideal balance between quality family time and a full-time photography role with The Washington Post Express. Five years later, a new opportunity led her to help build and lead a high-volume Amazon e-commerce studio near Louisville, refining her commitment to efficiency, quality, and team leadership in a fast-paced environment. After another five-year chapter, she became a full-time photographer for Zappos, where she continues to bring experience, creativity, and consistency to her work.

When she’s not behind the camera, Marge can most often be found tending her garden, on her yoga mat, or on the open road in her renovated school bus.
